The stark
reality of energy accounting implementation
To expect countless groups of producers working independently using different ways of arriving at the energy cost to come up with a realistic and usable method of energy labeling is simply put expecting the impossible. It will just not do. Surely no one who understands Technocracy and understands the price system would entertain such far-fetched notions? The determination of the energy cost of products can only be done by a well equipped organization set up specifically for this purpose. Plainly put without the Total Conscription program energy labeling cannot happen so those who want energy labeling to get underway should promote adoption of the program ASAP anything else would be futile.
Anyone who wants to get involved with energy labeling needs to understand the BIG Picture such as what are the objectives of energy accounting as set down in the Technocracy Study Course before they can come up with clever ways to get it happening. At present there are projects afoot that purport to be establishing guidelines for the calculation of energy amounts by people who have not been through the study course or so it seems from reading their suggestions.
Definitions:
Cost:
Always means energy cost.
Usufruct:
A way of life wherein no one owns anything beyond
personal effects
all that exists is there for ALL to use providing that they leave it in
an undamaged condition. (Naturally things are broken by accident but there
need be no consequences to pay beyond inconvenience.)
Production balanced with
consumption:
The KEY to the sustainability
of a high energy
civilization and the usufruct life style
we will ALL enjoy in our Technate.
Energy Accounting and energy labeling is a means to accomplish a balanced load operation nothing more, nothing complicated, most of it will be done by computers so do not sweat having to learn a lot of new and strange stuff, not necessary.
Some
pointers:
it is best if one
understands that these pointers are for the establishment of our energy
accounting system only. Eventually computerization will completely deal with
these things.
Basically energy accounting functions as an inventory system:
In years to come there will be no need to debit any personal accounts for anything nor have any indication of any cost on anything anywhere. To an observer all consumable products or services will be free for any Technate citizen. This will not happen for a decade or so but should be understood from the get go.
Problematic gaps in our current ability to calculate energy costs:
As any item moves along its route to the consumer energy gets added. Right now few items are entirely produced at a single location or for that matter in a single country determining energy added costs for anything made off Continent is not possible attempting to do so is silly. We can only calculate the energy cost of things made here. As the socially harmful and duplicate industries are phased out and new state of the art ones built this will all be done automatically by computers so we must just forget about it for now.
Using what is already available
to label items with energy cost
Most products already have a unique bar code so by having a single online database for all products every time energy gets added to any product when the product is shipped onward the added amount could automatically be transmitted to the database where spread sheet programs will keep a running total. When the product moves on the amount of energy added at any location would be automatically sent in by the time that it arrives at the distribution point the energy cost total will arrive along with it. Any attempts to calculate energy cost by any individual or group while trying
to function within the price system is at best a social get together for well intentioned people when there is nothing good on TV.
Yoo Hoo, take the study course BEFORE you start devising clever ways to go about doing things as they may not be needed, they may be counter-productive plus, over-complicated procedures tend to turn people off. Our Technate will be huge we will be providing goods for one percent of all humans alive home grown ways of achieving energy labeling just will not do.
The total / over all operating cost of our Technate and the cost of one phone are VERY different matters
IE: After we have estimated the total amount of iron required for operation of our Technate for a two year period and the amount of energy needed to get it that amount of energy will be allocated to the sequence that handles the finding, extracting, refinement of iron a simple calculation will give the cost of one gram of iron if one gram of iron is needed to make one phone that cost is added to the cost of the phone NO NEED TO FIDDLE ABOUT TRACING BACKWARDS where the iron came from.
A non-factor: the cost of lighting or heating the building where something is made.
The energy cost of housing both people and manufacturing equipment may be part of the over-all housing sequence the energy requirements for this entire sequence would be estimated then totaled. The housing sequence energy budget is then deducted from the total energy converted on our entire Continent it is all a part of our Technates operating costs which all citizens contribute to from their share of energy before the cost of any consumable items are determined.
A
non-factor: transportation
sure items are
moved about during their creation but the energy cost of doing so need NOT be included
during the calculation of the energy cost of any item since all transportation
energy costs of moving things about would be part of our total Technate
operating cost and be included in the transportation sequence energy budget. The
transportation sequence energy requirements would be deducted from the total
energy converted in our entire Technate BEFORE our personal accounts are filled
up with energy credits.
Another NON FACTOR:
That being human labor in the BIG PICTURE it no longer is, for the purposes of energy accounting, significant so it is to be ignored in any and all energy cost calculations. If you are disturbed or perturbed by this we suggest that you tune into a TV show “How it is made” it is time all citizens understand that the hand too era has passed.
As stated in the first paragraph only the implementation of the total conscription program can make this possible so come on people you must DEMAND IT and soon.
