TECHNOCRACY’s EVOLUTION HERE IN NORTH AMERICA
In Detroit, in April 1960, the founder of Technocracy Inc. Est. 1933 Howard Scott was asked for details on how the changeover to a Technate would take place.
Scott: I suppose whoever wrote this question thinks we Technocrats are all right, and that we are going to install the Technate. Oh, no, we aren’t going to do a damn thing. We’re Consulting Engineers. We’ll draw the design — tentatively. It will not be complete in every detail — nothing as vast as this could be; but the people of this country have to do it. They’re going to do it — not the Technocrats. Technocracy Inc. can say. ‘Well, you turn left out here and then turn right, but that’s about the extent of our participation. If it gets tough enough, you’ll do it no society has ever moved from foresight it’s always been by compulsion after the roof fell in. If the public had that much sense, it would have been done long before we Technocrats went across this country trying to tell you what to do. In other words, you would have beaten us to it. The fact that you haven’t (The people of this country haven’t) proves how far out of the loop they really are.
Fifty-one years later:
PHASE ONE OF TECHNOCRACY IS NOW IN PLACE
Unannounced by government or press an historic event took place when the Government of the United States legislated into effect the stimulus package of 17 Feb.2009 ($787 billion). From this point on, decisions made by the government concerning the economy will be dictated on keeping the wheels turning… on energy… not on balancing the financial books. More stimuli followed, into the trillions. There is no turning back. This is PHASE ONE of the transition to Technocracy in America.
Phase Two will evolve naturally and inevitably, but perhaps not without a costly struggle, as the beneficiaries of the status quo seek to perpetuate the collapsing Price System. The form of Phase Two could be in the nature of a new distribution of purchasing power, energy based, (or initially carbon based?) to adult citizens of North America, as specified over 70 years ago in the projection of Howard Scott’s ‘Technocracy’. Intractable unemployment could force this issue. Or there could well be intermediate phases before this development is written into history. The consolidation of North America is probably a precondition for further phases a difficult passage, we expect.

October 27, 2009, the Obama administration unveiled its Smart Grid plan
by awarding $3.4 billion awarded to 100 Smart Grid projects. According to the
Department of Energy's press release, these awards will result in the
installation of:
•more than 850 sensors called 'Phasor Measurement Units" to monitor the
overall power grid nationwide
•200,000 smart transformers
•700 automated substations (about 5 percent of the nation's total)
•1,000,000 in-home displays
•345,000 load control devices in homes
This is the "kick-start" of Smart Grid in the U.S. On January 8,
2010, President Obama unveiled an additional $2.3 billion Federal funding
program for the "energy manufacturing sector" as part of the $787
billion American Reinvestment and Recovery Act. Funding had already been
awarded to 183 projects in 43 states, pending Obama's announcement.
